Lebanon to close all its schools to control coronavirus spread

The Lebanese Ministry of Education has announced this Friday that all schools in Lebanon to close from March 2nd until the 8th of March, as a preventative reaction that emerged due to the spread of the coronavirus; which Lebanon have witnessed during the past week. The coronavirus appears to be linked to passengers who flew from Iran to Beirut. The issue is particularly alarming since Iran has witnessed the highest number of deaths from the coronavirus outside China. However, it was not until the fourth coronavirus case in Lebanon which affected a Syrian national that led to the establishment of such a decision.

The Ministry of education have stated in his statement that this decision was taken for the purpose of preserving the health of all students, as well as taking all proper measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

In addition to the closure of all schools, Lebanon also took the decision to stop all non-residents flying to Beirut from major countries affected with the virus such as: China, Iran, Italy and South Korea.
