Lebanon has been witnessing a major decrease in its coronavirus cases, documenting cases as low as two cases per day. As this is really good news and gives the Lebanese people some good update at last, it’s not as hopeful as it sounds. Although Lebanon has taken the decision to amend the curfew time which now starts at 8pm, this does not necessarily mean that Lebanon is about to go back to normal.
As the curve is flattening, eliminating the measures imposed amid COVID-19 could accelerate the curve back up even faster than how it began. Therefore, Lebanese health officials have stated that easing corona measures can only happen gradually and through a trial and error process.
PM Hassan Diab has declared that easing decision to be announced after May 10, which would have given Lebanon enough time to examine the curve more closely.
